    Mary Katheryne Campbell, 99, passed away September 18, 2019 in Carthage, Missouri. Mary was born March 26, 1920 in Nevada, Missouri to Elmer and Iona Meyers. Mary was a lifetime resident of Carthage and lived here since 1947. She was a homemaker and enjoyed bowling, and she taught Junior League Bowling. Mary was united in marriage to Gordon W. Campbell in 1939; and he preceded her in death in 1991. Mary is survived by one son, William “Bill” Campbell and wife Jody of Carthage; eight grandchildren and great grandchildren.     Mary Bess Matthews, 80, passed away September 15, 2019 in Carthage, MO. Mary was born September 29, 1938 in Edgar, TX. When Mary was a young adult, she moved to Carthage on a whim, got a job at Whistler’s Hamburgers and met her husband Donald.  Mary went to work at Mercy McCune Brooks Hospital and retired from there.  She attended the First Christian Church of Grove, OK with her family.  Mary greeted everyone with a friendly smile and loved spending time with people, her friends, her family, and especially her grandchildren.  She enjoyed the outdoors, traveling, art, painting, and playing and winning the Carthage Press football picking contest.     Leonard E. Whisenhunt, long time Carthage resident, age 93, passed away Sunday, September 15, 2019.  He was preceded in death by his wife and love of his life, Lodema E. Whisenhunt.  Services are pending and will be arranged through Mobley-Groesbeck Funeral Service Sand Springs, Oklahoma.  Following Leonard’s retirement from Horner Waldorf/Stone Container in 1994 he and Dema returned to their home town of Sand Springs.  They left a legion of friends and neighbors in Carthage, many of whom made the trip to Sand Springs to pay their respects following the loss of Dema.  They were members of the Carthage Country Club where they enjoyed much golf and fellowship.  He will…

    Jonathan Estuardo Orozco

    Jonathan Estuardo Orozco, 18, passed away Friday, September 13, 2019 at Kansas City Hospice House after his battle with cancer. Jonathan was born February 21, 2001 in Joplin, MO to Melsar Neemias Reyes Cancinos and Rogelia Marleny Garcia Reyes. After his birth, Jonathan moved to Guatemala with his mother; he returned to Carthage to live with his father when he was 17. He attended the Iglesia Cristiana Nueva Vida Church in Carthage.
