Claud William (CW) Appleberry, 73, El Dorado Springs, passed away on Sept. 8, 2013, after a short battle with cancer. Claud was born May 21, 1940, in Dawn, MO, to Ira A. and Agnes Faye Appleberry.

Claud married Judy Jackson on Jan. 20, 1963. They were happily married for 50 years. To this union one daughter, Sheryl Ann Appleberry Moore, was born on Feb. 24, 1967.

For many years Claud and his wife served their community as owners and operators of Appleberry Lock and Key Service. He became a locksmith over 35 years ago. Claud was a well known and trusted member of the community. He enjoyed deer hunting and going fishing with his grandkids and running the family farm.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of El Dorado Springs until it closed its doors in December 2012. He then transferred his membership to First Presbyterian in Nevada as an inactive member.

Preceding him in death were his parents Ira A. and Agnes Faye Appleberry.

Claud is survived by his wife, Judy, of the home; daughter, Sheryl Moore; brother-in-law, J.T. Jackson; granddaughters, Raynea Reanne Koca and Cassie Leanne Moore; grandsons, Kegan Aaron McGatha, and wife -Ashton and Dakota Levi Moore; great-granddaughters, MacKenzie Eve Koca and Constance Ainsley McGatha; and great-grandson, Cayden William Koca-Gilkey – all of El Dorado Springs; granddaughter, Kristi Nicole Andrews, and husband, Bob – Wright City; cousin, Betty Bosley; and a host of family and friends.

Services began at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, in Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home. The family received friends from 1 p.m. until service time. Rev. Brent Bland officiated. Burial followed in the El Dorado Springs City Cemetery under the direction of Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Kegan McGatha, J.T. Jackson, Tony Moore, Robert Andrews, Mark Keith, Dave Taylor and Brent Greenstreet.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to High Hopes or to the Diabetes Association and left at the funeral home.
